About Kart 1 Racing

Kart 1 Racing originally started back in 1990 as “Tim’s Southside Kart Centre” in Kirrawee, owned and operated by multiple Australian Champion—Tim Craig. The business then moved to Canterbury Road, Canterbury .

The address has been an iconic location for karting businesses over the past 60 years.

After a number of years at Canterbury and multiple 1st place podium finishes by Tim and his drivers, it became apparent a name change was in order, thus the business became known as “Kart One Racing”.

In 1996 the business took on the role of the sole Australian Importer of “Top Kart” and this spurned the expansion of Kart One Racing with the addition of the retail outlet at the Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway, Eastern Creek.

In 2005 the Canterbury Road site became too small for the expansion of the business and a further move of the Canterbury side of the business to Wetherill Park ensued. During this time Kart One Racing also became an Arrow Premium Dealer allowing it to sell the best Australian Chassis alongside the best European chassis - Top Kart.

2008 saw the expansion of the retail outlet at Eastern Creek, becoming a Kosmic Kart Dealer, along with additional workshop facilities and the whole business finally settled at Eastern Creek along with Hurst Racing.

2010  marked an important milestone, with the business acquiring a new business partner, Fergus Symes as well as the business becoming known as Kart 1 Racing Pty Ltd. 2010 also saw Kart 1 market its own line of race gear known as Kart Star Racewear.

In 2011 our aim is to develop the business even further. A few of the major changes will be the launch of our new online store and the reformation of the Top Kart CIK Race Team.
